Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who is Dr Edward de Bono?
A: Dr Edward de Bono has written over 70 books, and from these anyone can see what matters about Dr de Bono. I've bought almost all of them since the early seventies, starting with "The Mechanism of Mind". He hasn't written any novels as far as I'm aware but "Why I Want to be King of Australia" was his only tongue-in-cheek book; but even that demanded that the reader should think!

Professor of seven universities with five university degrees, Dr de Bono qualified in medicine at the age of twenty. He has Honours degrees in both Psychology and Physiology from Oxford; PhD in Philosophy from Cambridge. Did research in Cambridge and Harvard into the circulatory systems of the body: glands etc. With his insights into the self-organising patterning nature of the brain, he set this out in "The Mechanism of Mind" published in 1969.

Q: Why Take an Edward de Bono Training Course?
A: Education does not teach us how to think. I believe Edward de Bono originated the concept of bringing thinking skills into schools. He has the largest international programme for thinking in schools. Now although thinking is mandatory through the national curriculum, but there are a lot of watered-down versions and copycats around. Edward de Bono is widely regarded as the father of thinking and creativity. I feel that it's important to keep to the original, since his ideas are based on how the brain works, not how philosophers would like it to work. Also: his thinking tools Work!
